Terms of Service
Effective Date: 2026-04-20 | Last Updated: 2026-04-20
1. Service Overview
SiliconLens ("the Service", "we", "us", "our") provides AI-powered semiconductor errata analysis tools for firmware and embedded systems engineers. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
SiliconLens is operated by an independent developer based in the Republic of Korea. For contact details, see Section 17.
1.1 Service Availability
SiliconLens is currently available to users located outside the European Economic Area (EEA). The Service is not offered to, and may not be accessed from, the EU/EEA at this time. Attempts to circumvent geographic restrictions (e.g., via VPN) do not constitute authorization to use the Service and may result in account termination. We plan to expand availability to the EU/EEA in the future, at which point these Terms will be updated accordingly.
You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service.

3.1 Purpose
The Fair Use Policy ensures consistent service quality for all subscribers. SiliconLens Pro is designed for individual professional use by firmware and embedded systems engineers.
3.2 Usage Guidelines
- Automated scripting: Excessive automated or programmatic access that degrades service quality for other users is not permitted.
- Account sharing: Each subscription is for a single named user. Sharing credentials, session tokens, or API keys with multiple individuals is prohibited.
- Reselling access: Reselling or redistributing SiliconLens access through third-party services is prohibited.
- System abuse: Intentional attempts to overload, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or exploit the Service infrastructure are prohibited.
3.3 Enforcement
If usage significantly exceeds normal individual professional patterns, SiliconLens may:
- Notify you and request voluntary adjustment.
- Apply temporary rate limiting.
- Suggest upgrading to a Team or Enterprise plan.
Except in cases of clear abuse or Terms violations, SiliconLens will not suspend or terminate accounts without prior notice.
4. Payment and Billing
4.1 Merchant of Record (Paddle)
All Pro subscriptions are sold through Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record (MoR). This means Paddle — not SiliconLens — is the contractual seller, tax collector, and invoice issuer. Paddle handles all billing, tax calculation, payment processing, invoicing, refunds, and chargebacks in accordance with Paddle's own terms (https://www.paddle.com/legal/terms) and refund policy (https://www.paddle.com/legal/refund-policy).
By purchasing a Pro subscription, you also agree to Paddle's Buyer Terms at https://www.paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms.
4.2 Billing Cycle
- Pro subscriptions are billed monthly in US Dollars (USD) by Paddle.
- The billing date is set on your original subscription start date and renews automatically until cancelled.
4.3 Cancellation
- You may cancel at any time from the Settings page or through the Paddle buyer portal (https://paddle.net).
- Upon cancellation, access continues until the end of the current billing period.
- No partial refunds are issued for unused days within the current period, except as provided in the Refund Policy or as required by mandatory local law.
4.4 Credit Reset
- Pro credits reset monthly on your subscription anniversary date.
- Unused credits do not carry over to the next billing period and have no monetary value.
- Free plan credits are a one-time allocation and do not reset.
4.5 Price Changes
- Existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before any price increase via email and/or in-app notice.
- Early adopters who subscribed during the Beta period retain their original pricing ("Early Bird" rate) as long as their subscription remains continuously active.
4.6 Refunds
Refund eligibility and procedures are set out in the SiliconLens Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms by reference.
5. Data and Privacy
5.1 Public Errata Data
SiliconLens analyzes publicly available semiconductor errata documents. Original documents are not redistributed; only AI-generated analysis results are provided to users.
5.2 Private Vault and User Content License
You retain all rights, title, and interest in the documents, text, and other materials you upload to Private Vault ("User Content"). You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to upload and process such materials.
You grant SiliconLens a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, transform, create embeddings from, and display your User Content solely to the extent necessary to operate the Service on your behalf (for example, generating embeddings, performing retrieval, and displaying search results to you). This license terminates when you delete the User Content or when your account is deleted, subject to the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy.
SiliconLens does not use User Content to train AI models and does not share User Content with third parties except the sub-processors listed in the Privacy Policy, which act strictly on SiliconLens's instructions.
5.3 Chat History
Chat sessions and messages are stored per user account under row-level security. You may delete your chat history at any time from the Settings page.
5.4 Privacy Policy
SiliconLens's collection, use, and disclosure of personal data is governed by the SiliconLens Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms by reference.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 SiliconLens Property
The Service, including its software, user interface, taxonomy, prompt templates, analysis pipelines, and AI-generated structured outputs (excluding your User Content and derivative results produced specifically for you), is owned by SiliconLens and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. No rights are granted to you except the limited license in Section 6.2.
6.2 Your License to Use the Service
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, SiliconLens grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own internal professional use.
6.3 Your User Content
You retain ownership of your User Content as described in Section 5.2. Analysis results generated for you in response to your queries are provided to you for your own internal use. You may not redistribute SiliconLens's proprietary taxonomy, bulk analysis outputs, or RAG results as a competing dataset or service.
6.4 Feedback
Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you voluntarily provide to SiliconLens may be used by SiliconLens without restriction or compensation.
7. AI-Generated Output — Disclaimer
- SiliconLens provides AI-generated analysis that may contain errors, omissions, or hallucinations.
- All errata analysis, workarounds, and chat responses are clearly presented as AI-generated and are provided for informational purposes only.
- All outputs must be independently verified against official manufacturer errata documentation and datasheets before use in production systems, safety-critical systems, or any decision with material consequences.
- SiliconLens is not a substitute for official manufacturer errata documentation or qualified engineering judgment.
- SiliconLens makes no warranty that AI-generated output is accurate, complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose.
- SiliconLens is not designed or intended for use as the sole basis for decisions in safety-critical systems, including but not limited to automotive, medical, aerospace, or nuclear applications.
- You assume all risk if you choose to rely on AI-generated output for hardware design, component selection, or system integration decisions.
Without limiting the foregoing, SiliconLens is not liable for any damages arising from: (a) errata that the AI failed to identify or incorrectly classified as non-applicable; (b) workarounds that are incomplete, incorrect, or incompatible with your specific hardware revision or configuration; (c) reliance on AI-generated analysis without cross-referencing the official errata document from the semiconductor manufacturer. AI models and analysis algorithms may be updated without notice; results may vary between sessions and are not guaranteed to be consistent over time.
8. Service Availability — No SLA
The Service is provided on a "best-effort" basis. SiliconLens does not offer an uptime Service Level Agreement for any plan, including Pro. SiliconLens may perform maintenance, modify, or discontinue features at any time without liability. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance where reasonably practicable.
9. API Keys and MCP Access
- API keys are hashed (SHA-256) before storage; plaintext keys are never retained by SiliconLens.
- You are responsible for keeping your API keys secure and for all activity that occurs under your keys.
- Compromised keys must be revoked immediately from the Settings page.
10. Account Termination
10.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription and contacting erratahunter@proton.me (and, where available, via Settings → Account). Upon deletion, your Account Data, Chat History, and Private Vault content will be removed within 30 days, subject to the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy.
10.2 Termination by SiliconLens
SiliconLens may suspend or terminate your account immediately and without notice for cause (material breach, fraud, legal order); otherwise with at least 30 days' notice, if:
- You materially breach these Terms, the Fair Use Policy, or the Acceptable Use requirements in Section 11.
- SiliconLens is required to do so by law, regulation, or court order.
- Paddle reverses, disputes, or flags your payment.
- Your account is inactive for more than 24 months (with at least 30 days prior notice).
For non-urgent terminations, SiliconLens will use reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days' notice before terminating a paid account, along with guidance for data export.
10.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to access the Service ends immediately. Sections 5.2 (license survival until deletion), 6 (IP), 7 (disclaimer), 12 (limitation of liability), 13 (indemnification), 14 (governing law), and 15 (dispute resolution) survive termination.
11. Acceptable Use and Export Controls
11.1 Prohibited Uses
You may not use the Service to:
- Violate any law or regulation, or infringe the rights of any third party
- Upload content you do not have the right to process
- Upload malware, exploit code intended for offensive use, or content that violates export control laws
- Generate content that is defamatory, harassing, or unlawful
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, credit accounting, or authentication mechanisms
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the weights of any underlying model
- Use the Service to build a competing product or to train a competing AI model
- Use AI-generated output from the Service as the sole or primary basis for design decisions in safety-critical systems — including but not limited to automotive (ISO 26262), medical devices (IEC 62304), aerospace (DO-178C), nuclear, or military applications — without independent verification by qualified engineers using official manufacturer documentation
11.2 Export Controls and Sanctions
You may not use the Service if you are located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any country or region subject to comprehensive US, EU, UK, or UN sanctions, or if you are on any restricted-party list (e.g., OFAC SDN, EU Consolidated List). You agree to comply with all applicable export control laws, including US Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the Google Gemini API acceptable use terms incorporated by reference.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- SiliconLens shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, even if SiliconLens has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
- SiliconLens's total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid to Paddle for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US Dollars (USD 100).
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory applicable law (e.g., liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death/personal injury where applicable).
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SiliconLens and its operator from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:
- Your User Content or your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms, the Privacy Policy, or the Refund Policy
- Your violation of any third-party right, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights
- Your violation of any applicable law, regulation, or export control requirement
SiliconLens reserves the right to assume exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification, in which case you agree to cooperate with SiliconLens's defense.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
Subject to Section 15, the Seoul Central District Court (서울중앙지방법원) shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service. This clause does not deprive consumers of the protection afforded by mandatory provisions of the law of their country of habitual residence.
15. Dispute Resolution
15.1 Informal Resolution First
Before filing any formal claim, you agree to first contact SiliconLens at erratahunter@proton.me and attempt to resolve the dispute in good faith for a period of at least 30 days.
15.2 Formal Proceedings
If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be brought before the court identified in Section 14. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief where necessary to protect intellectual property or confidential information.
16. DMCA and Intellectual Property Complaints
If you believe that material accessible through the Service infringes your copyright, send a written notice to erratahunter@proton.me including:
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location
- Your contact information
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder
- Your physical or electronic signature
SiliconLens will investigate valid notices and may remove or disable access to infringing material. SiliconLens may also terminate accounts of repeat infringers.
17. Changes to these Terms
SiliconLens may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance via email to your account address and/or an in-app notice. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, your sole remedy is to cancel your subscription and stop using the Service.
18. Miscellaneous
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
- No Waiver: Failure by SiliconLens to enforce any right or provision shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
- Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without SiliconLens's prior written consent. SiliconLens may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SiliconLens regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
